Troon-Affiliated Courses Recognized in Top Modern and State-By-State Categories

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that 31 of its affiliated courses have been named to the list of Golfweek’s Best Courses in the United States. Pronghorn (Fazio) in Oregon and Kapalua (Plantation) in Hawaii were yet again listed on the prestigious list of the Top 100 Best Modern Courses
– (post 1960), with Kapalua making a jump up the list to No. 64. The list of the Next 100 Best Modern Courses
also listed Princeville Makai Golf Club in Hawaii; Quintero Golf Club in Arizona; The Golf Club at Black Rock in Idaho; Red Ledges Golf Club in Utah; Pronghorn (Nicklaus) in Oregon; and Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort (Quarry) in Minnesota.

Among the courses named to the Best Courses You Can Play, State-By-State rankings, Sewailo Golf Club in Arizona impressively made the list for the first time after officially opening in late 2013. Several others made notable moves up the list including: Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa (Ridge/Canyon), and Whirlwind Golf Club, (Devils Claw & Cattail) in Arizona; Indian Wells Golf Resort (Players) in California; Camp Creek Golf Club in Florida; and La Cantera Hill Country Resort (Palmer) in Texas.

Variety and memorability of par 3s, 4s and 5s – Different clubs hit; extent to which the angles of play create interesting and varied playing options; and extent to which holes offer variety of options from the tee and on the second shot.

Basic quality of conditioning – Variety of playing textures; extent of turf coverage; consistency and quality of bunker sand.

“Walk in the park” test – Degree to which the course ultimately is worth spending a half-day on.
