RIO VERDE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS

Rio Verde, Ariz. (August 2, 2021) – The Rio Verde Community Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable foundation located in Rio Verde, Ariz., recently awarded four scholarships to children of Rio Verde Community Association and Rio Verde Country Club employees. The Rio Verde Community Foundation is not affiliated with the Rio Verde Community Association or Rio Verde Country Club. Scholarship funds were raised by the Community Foundation and through donations made by Rio Verde residents.

The Rio Verde Community Foundation Scholarship Fund encourages Community Association and Country Club employees, their spouses and dependent children to continue their education by providing financial assistance with their educational costs.  In its inaugural year (2021), the Foundation awarded four scholarships to the following students:

Cian James Bernard Brannan – Cian is the son of Tara Brannan the Communication Manager at Rio Verde Country Club.  Cian is entering his senior year at Cactus Shadows High School in a dual enrollment program with Paradise Valley Community College.  He is taking eight credit hours each semester at the community college and two advanced placement classes at Cactus Shadows.

Ben Howard Danko – Ben, a 2021 graduate of Fountain Hills High School, is enrolled at Arizona State University this fall and is pursuing a degree in Business.  Both of Ben’s parents, Howard and Eileen, are employed in golf course operations.

Ashley Cadenas Ramirez – Ashley will graduate from North Canyon High School this spring and plans on enrolling at Paradise Valley Community College to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Business.  Ashley’s father, Jose “Tony” Cadenas is the head mechanic in the Rio Verde landscape group.

Jayme Windsor – Jayme is a University of Arizona graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry.  Mary Windsor of Accounts Payable is the sponsoring parent.

The purpose of the scholarship grants awarded by Rio Verde Community Foundation is to enhance the educational development of the people, and their families, employed in Rio Verde and the surrounding community. Full time employees (and their family members) working for businesses and services operating in Rio Verde and the surrounding community are eligible to apply for a grant.  The employee must have been working for this employer for at least one year and have worked at least 750 hours in the Rio Verde community.  Family members are defined as spouse/domestic partner and dependent children 25 years old or younger.

The Rio Verde Community Foundation was founded in 2018 with the purpose of raising funds for charitable projects that provide benefits and opportunities for Rio Verde and the surrounding community.   Scholarship grant applications are reviewed by an Educational Grant Committee composed of two Rio Verde Community Foundation Board Members and two interested Rio Verde residents.
