Scottsdale, Arizona – Troon Golf is pleased to announce the Second Annual “Troon Two-some Challenge” to be held at some of the finest facilities throughout Southern California. The tournament was developed last year to illustrate the ‘Troon Golf Experience’, as well as create one of the finest amateur series in the area. Due to increased popularity the tournament now consists of seven qualifiers, up from last year’s four.
The event is open to all amateurs. Two-man teams assemble to play in any or all of the qualifiers in a 9-hole better ball / 9-hole scramble format. A total of sixty teams will qualify for the 2-day, 36-hole final at The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage. The first four places net and first two places gross will automatically advance to the finals. As a bonus to playing in all of the qualifiers, participants will be automatically eligible for the finals. The remaining spots will be awarded to the leading point earners of those teams not already eligible.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the ‘Troon Golf Experience’ while creating one of the greatest amateur events in Southern California,” said Joe Fairchild, Tournament Coordinator, Eagle Glen Golf Club. “This year we have gained support from sponsors including Nike Golf, Texace, Churm Publishing and Creative Metal Castings and hope to expand the program to all Troon Golf facilities in the Southwest region in the future.”
Golfers will be able to experience great golf at these qualifying sites: Eagle Glen Golf Club (2) in Corona; Monarch Beach Golf Links (2) in Dana Point; Maderas Golf Club (2) in San Diego; and The Westin Mission Hills Resort (1) in Rancho Mirage, which is also hosting the finals.
