SEVEN TROON GOLF FACILITIES RECOGNIZED IN GOLF WORLD BUSINESS

Scottsdale, Arizona – Golf World Business has announced that seven Troon Golf facilities have earned the publication’s prestigious “100 Best Golf Shops for 2001” award. The selection criteria are based on such categories as innovative promotions, involvement with local businesses and strategically based-inventory levels. “We are very proud to have seven of our facilities honored by Golf World Business,” said John Easterbrook, Executive Vice President Operations for Troon Golf. “It is a credit to the dedication and hard work of our field associates and further illustrates Troon Golf’s commitment to be the world leader in the industry.”

Monarch Beach Golf Links – Dana Point, CA Built adjacent to the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel Hotel, Monarch Beach Golf Links is one of a few golf courses on the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. In addition to the views of the ocean on almost every hole, are the silhouettes of the Santa Catalina and San Clemente Islands in the distance. The richly appointed golf shop features traditional red oak cabinetry, as well as matching paneling and ceiling beams. The beach lifestyle is reflected in a miniature lifeguard stand and fishing pier that provide inventive displays for varied merchandise.

The Westin Mission Hills Resort – Rancho Mirage, CA The 2,800-square foot Moroccan style golf shop features large picture windows that look out to the Pete Dye and Gary Player courses and the San Jacinto Mountains beyond. The lure of the desert communities of Coachella Valley, called the “Palms Springs Mystique,” plays off the aura of Hollywood in its heyday. The “tinsel-town” atmosphere is still felt in the ornately adorned golf shop, which is among several gift and apparel boutiques at The Westin Mission Hills Resort.

Troon North Golf Club – Scottsdale, AZ Set in the rocky foothills beneath Pinnacle Peak in north Scottsdale, the golf shop at Troon North Golf Club attracts a varied clientele base far beyond the tremendous number of golfers who come to enjoy Troon North’s two Top-100 golf courses. Set in the striking 30,000-square-foot clubhouse with its elegant territorial-style accents, the golf shop presents the look and feel of the traditional Southwest, reflecting the diverse ethnic cultures of this region.

Legend Trail Golf Club – Scottsdale, AZ The Old Spirit of the West anchors Legend Trail Golf Club in its Southwestern environment. In the golf shop, the western motif creates the look and feel of a warm and amiable hacienda, appointed with heavy wooden territorial-style fixtures, and adobe-tinted walls decorated with fine western art. Flannel button down shirts imprinted with western motifs and leather bags accented with lariat rope seams, are further examples of regional influences.

Talking Stick Golf Club – Scottsdale, AZ Built by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, the straw-adobe clubhouse at Talking Stick Golf Club purposely reflects the indigenous Native American culture and art forms. Inside, the intricately woven basketry, pottery, and other artifacts are on display in a collection that dates back to the turn of the century, connecting Native American antiquity with modern resort-style golf. The 1,900-square-foot golf shop features large picture windows that look out on to the golf course with the McDowell Mountains and Camelback Mountain as the backdrop.

The Westin La Paloma – Tucson, AZ The Westin La Paloma stretches through the craggy desert foothills of Tucson’s Santa Catalina Mountains. In a separate Spanish, Colonial-style structure built below the main resort, the golf shop at The Westin La Paloma features an airy 35-foot vaulted ceiling with 30-foot arched windows that look onto the golf course and over the city of Tucson. Jack Nicklaus built this golf course in the rugged foothills and the desert atmosphere makes La Paloma very unique.

The Westin La Cantera Resort – San Antonio, TX The Westin La Cantera Resort is located in the Hill Country of San Antonio, Texas. Inside, natural light streams in through 18-foot picture windows overlooking the golf courses, illuminating the handsome interior. The 24-foot vaulted ceiling creates a spacious open-air atmosphere and enormous black wrought iron chandeliers carry off the Mediterranean architecture. As host of the Texas Open, La Cantera offers PGA Tour merchandise and displays the “La Cantera Hall of Fame” photo gallery of the legendary stars of the PGA Tour.
