SPENCER SCHAUB APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF GOLF AT THE GROVE

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce the appointment of Spencer Schaub to director of golf at The Grove, an 18-hole Kyle Phillips design located just outside of London. Schaub is no stranger to the facility, having held the position of head golf professional for the past three years. In this capacity, Schaub had direct oversight of delivering a five star resort golf experience, cutting edge within the UK golf market.

A seven-year Troon Golf veteran, Schaub began his career at Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort as tournament coordinator/head professional. From there he took on his first international assignment as operations manager for Troon Golf Australia. Overseeing Troon’s early expansion “down under,” Schaub trained staff at seven managed-facilities on Troon Golf policies, general facility operations and the TROON GOLF EXPERIENCESM. Additionally, he developed pre-opening events for Troon Golf facilities across Australia and the South Pacific.

Following his time in Australia, Schaub became part of the pre-opening and current golf operations team at The Grove. In addition to establishing pre-opening business strategies, budgets and business plans, he formulated all buying plans for an après golf retail outlet and oversaw facility staffing.

Schaub is a Class “A” member of the PGA and was awarded 2004 Troon Golf “Associate of the Year.” He holds a business degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan having studied marketing and professional golf management. Prior to graduating, Schaub completed internships at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland; Bedford Golf & Tennis Club in Bedford, New York; and Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This past September The Grove welcomed 50 of the world’s top golfers as they competed in the American Express Championship, part of the World Golf Championships series, and received rave reviews from players and commentators alike. Hosting this tournament after only being open for three years is a great testament to the high caliber of golf offered at The Grove.
