THE RESERVE COURSE AT THE CLUBS AT ST. JAMES PLANTATION CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING
Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Clubs at St. James Plantation, a Troon Golf®-managed facility in Southport, North Carolina celebrated the opening of the property’s final 18 holes of golf last weekend, bringing the total to 81 and further establishing St. James Plantation as the ultimate active-adult golf community in the region. Michael Nicklaus and his team from Nicklaus Design, and Troon Golf Chairman and CEO Dana Garmany headlined the guest list for the ribbon cutting ceremony and ceremonial round of golf on July 21.
Over 1,000 dignitaries, media participants and Reserve Club members attended a cocktail reception and everyone had the opportunity to tour the newly constructed Golf House that contains the golf shop and a screened-in patio turn bar. With architecture fashioned after a combination British colonial and coastal club, the Golf House complements the other three existing facilities on St. James Plantation and offers the residents, members and guests another example of the TROON GOLF EXPERIENCESM.
“Nicklaus Design delivered on the ownership’s desire for a ‘member’s course’ with championship capabilities, and the Troon Golf commitment to service and agronomy will ensure the world-class golf experience for all members, residents and their guests,” stated Jon Schauder, operations manager for The Reserve Course at St. James Plantation.
At 7,212 yards from the championship tees and 4,925 from the forward tees, The Reserve Course offers an exciting and challenging round of golf for players at all levels. The course features full practice facilities including driving range, putting green and a practice bunker. Daily-fee play will be accepted at The Reserve Course until February 2008 at which time the course will become private and available exclusively to St. James Plantation Signature Golf members and their guests.
