The Standard Club Welcomes New Executive Chef

Atlanta, Georgia (November 10, 2020) – The Standard Club in Johns Creek, Georgia recently welcomed Scott Meyer as the private club’s new Executive Chef. Meyer will oversee all facets of food service and preparation, across The Standard Club’s multiple dining venues.

A seasoned culinary professional with more than 26 years of experience, Meyer most recently served as the executive sous chef at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta. During his 13-plus years at the Georgia Tech Hotel, Meyer progressed from kitchen supervisor, to banquet chef and eventually to executive sous chef. Prior to his time at the Georgia Tech Hotel, Meyer was the executive sous chef at the Marietta Conference Center and Resort in Marietta.

A graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in culinary arts, Meyer has been recognized for his uncompromising standards in quality food preparation, service and team building. He excels at developing palate-pleasing menu items for a diverse audience, while also overseeing execution of kitchen activities.

“Chef Meyer has a wealth of knowledge and extensive background leading sizeable operations with multiple venues like ours,” said Joe Langford, chief operating officer and general manager, The Standard Club. “We are excited to welcome him and his fresh ideas to lead our culinary program.”

The Standard Club’s 125,000 square-foot clubhouse includes both formal and casual dining rooms, a private dining room, a banquet ballroom and patio dining overlooking the golf course.

The Standard Club is managed by Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon. The club was founded in 1867 with an historic social club heritage in downtown Atlanta. The club was relocated in 1987 to its current north-Atlanta address in Johns Creek. The full service country club is located on 300-plus acres of Audubon-designated natural habitat. The club’s 18-hole golf course was originally designed by Arthur Hills and opened for member play in 1987. Golf course architect Mike Riley redesigned the course in 2005 and it is now regarded as one of the top golf courses in Georgia. In addition to golf and dining, member amenities include four indoor air-conditioned tennis courts, eight outdoor clay courts, four outdoor hard courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, as well as racquetball and basketball courts. The club’s swimming pool area features a pool, waterslide and kids water mushroom.
