TRAVEL + LEISURE GOLF NAMES 2005 WORLD’S BEST GOLF RESORTS

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The readers of Travel + Leisure Golf have spoken…and Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing congratulates those managed golf facilities that have been included in the magazine’s list of the World’s Best Golf Resorts (2005). Topping the list and rated as the No. 4 Golf Resort in the United States, the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North is also recognized as the No. 2 Golf Resort in the Southwest. Additionally, the resort took home honors as the best resort in the Southwest for Buddy Trips, and second best in the Southwest Restaurant category.

Continuing to make headlines in the Southwest is The Phoenician, which is rated by the readers of Travel + Leisure Golf as the No. 3 Best Golf Resort. Additionally, The Phoenician was recognized as one of the best for Family Trips, Restaurants and Spa/Gym.

Also receiving recognition is the Canyon course at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, AZ, that is considered by readers as one of the Most Underrated Courses in the Southwest. Additionally, congratulations to Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona for being named one of the Most Underrated Resorts in the Southwest. Built in 1986 as an idyllic complement to desert-style golf, Ted Robinson’s design of three striking nine-hole layouts that wind through 95 acres of lakes and cascading water features is truly one-of-a-kind in Arizona.

Methodology
An online survey, developed by the editors of T&L Golf appeared on www.tlgolf.com from April 28 to June 30. The nominees fell under eleven regional categories: U.S. West & Northwest; U.S. Midwest, Northeast & Mid-Atlantic; U.S. Southwest; U.S. Southeast; Hawaii; Canada; The Caribbean; Mexico & Latin America; Ireland & Northern Ireland; Scotland; England & Wales. The regional categories were divided into two groups based on the type of golf facility most commonly found in the region, specifically golf resorts or golf courses with separate hotels.
