TRAVEL + LEISURE GOLF RECOGNIZES AMERICA’S TOP 100 GOLF COMMUNITIES

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing takes great pleasure in recognizing five of the company’s managed facilities that have been named to Travel + Leisure Golf’s inaugural list of “America’s Top 100 Golf Communities.” Standing out from a list of over 2000 properties, according to Travel + Leisure Golf, these communities are “the best places to live – and live well.”

Quintero Golf & Country Club — Peoria Arizona
Located in the high Sonoran desert about one hour north of downtown Phoenix, Quintero Golf & Country Club is an accessible yet secluded private golf community. With less than 300 residences on over 800 acres, great care has been taken to maintain the natural beauty of the area; and this applies to the golf course as well. The 7190-yard Founders Course, a Rees Jones design, looks like it has been part of the landscape for many years. The planned Charter Course, designed by Greg Norman, will begin construction soon after completion of the 40,000 square foot main clubhouse in early 2007, and promises to be just as spectacular as the Founders. Located at an elevation between 1986 and 2670 feet, the entire property is surrounded by federal lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, adding to the feeling of privacy. The facility takes full advantage of the sweeping desert landscape with significant elevation changes and lush collections of native saguaro, ocotillo, ironwood, palo verde, and acacia trees.

The Crosby Club – San Diego, California
The Crosby Club is a 722-acre luxurious golf community located just north of San Diego in Rancho Santa Fe. This beautiful master planned private development features a spectacular 340-foot bridge framing the luxurious aura of the golf community, with inspired architecture blended in with graceful trees and secluded hills. The Crosby Club features an 18-hole, par 70, championship course designed by PGA star Fred Couples and course architect Brian Curley. The luxurious amenities offered include a 32,000 square foot clubhouse, a junior Olympic swimming pool, full strength and fitness facilities and an incredible tennis complex which features the tennis garden with a sunken stadium court, several additional hard courts and tennis shop. With a luxurious and serene outdoor location The Crosby Club is quickly becoming the standard for private golf and country club living.

Turner Hill Golf Club – Ipswich, Massachusetts
Turner Hill Golf Club is a private golf community on Boston’s historic North Shore that combines the rich history of Boston, Massachusetts with the elegance of world-class amenities and championship golf. The club features a magnificent 18-hole 7,000 yard par 72 championship golf course designed by Hurdzan Fry, which utilizes the hillside vista and natural century old landscape to contribute to it playability, beauty and spectacular layout. In addition to the championship golf course, Turner Hill also includes world-class squash and tennis facilities, a large swimming pool, gym with personal trainers, full spa services and the Golf and Racquet Club featuring fine cuisine and excellent service.

Snoqualmie Ridge – Snoqualmie, Washington
Snoqualmie Ridge is a 1,343 acre planned community nestled amid the stunning natural beauty of the Upper Snoqualmie Valley. Over 40 percent of the community has been set aside as open space, including parks, trails, preserved wetlands and a Jack Nicklaus Signature TPC Golf Course. Nicklaus’ challenging design covers 331 acres and stretches to 7,264 yards, with Providence bentgrass on the greens, and Idaho silicate sand in its 109 bunkers. Set in rolling valleys and ridgeline terrain, the elevation shifts as much as 300 feet throughout the course, offering an outstanding view of Mt. Si and the Cascade Foothills. The TPC Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Club, home to the Greater Seattle Boeing Classic, is also a certified participant in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, which is an environmentally friendly program that promotes ecologically sound land management and the conservation of natural resources.

Horseshoe Bay Farms – Horseshoe Bay, Wisconsin
The turn-of-the-century heritage was not lost on the design of the Horseshoe Bay Golf Club. The course designers, Rick Robbins and Brian Lussier, were careful to maintain a very traditional feel in a modern design that appeals to present-day players. The course is nestled in limestone outcroppings from the ice age, and each hole tells a story in the varied history of Horseshoe Bay Farms. From the caves below the golf course, to a stunning view of the waters of Green Bay from the 18th fairway, the farm’s heritage and lore make every round memorable.

“We congratulate our partners and associates at these five exceptional properties,” stated Troon Golf President and COO, Hud Hinton. “Travel + Leisure Golf is one of the leading industry publications and we place high value on receiving an accolade such as this, especially in its inaugural year.”

In naming golf communities to this list, the field was reduced to several hundred from an initial list of more than 2,000. These several hundred were then each rated in five categories: golf (worth up to 35 points); quality of housing (25 points); community amenities and activities (20 points); location, including natural setting and proximity to cultural and other activities (15 points); and X-factor, such as celebrity residents or buzz (5 points). The points were then totaled to rank the Top 100. To be eligible for nomination, communities were required to offer property owners an opportunity for membership in an affiliated private golf club.
