TROON GOLF APPOINTED TO MANAGE SEAVIEW RESORT & SPA

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage Seaview Resort & Spa in Galloway, N.J.

Originally founded as the exclusive Seaview Country Club in 1914 by Clarence Geist, Seaview Resort & Spa is a full-service resort minutes from the famous Jersey shore and the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. As southern New Jersey’s only spa and golf resort, the property boasts 36-holes of championship golf on two world-renowned golf courses – the Pines course and Bay course.

“Our goal is to create extraordinary guest and member experiences at Seaview Resort & Spa through personalized service, consistency and uncompromising attention to detail,” stated Hud Hinton, president and COO, Troon Golf.

In 1942, the Seaview Country Club hosted the PGA Championship, where Sam Snead defeated Jim Turnesa for his first major championship. Today, Seaview is recognized by Golfweek magazine as one of the “Best You Can Play” in New Jersey. It has also been awarded 4.5 Stars by Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” list.

The original links-style golf course, known today as the Bay course, was partially designed by Hugh Wilson in 1915. Donald Ross completed the course the following year by adding sand bunkers. A renovation was completed in 1998 to restore the course to its original design. In 2006, more changes were made by adding thick rough and pot bunkers around the greens.

In 1929, the club opened an additional nine-hole course, designed by William S. Flynn and Howard C. Toomey. A further nine holes were later built by Flynn-disciple William Gordon in 1957 and the rearranged layout became known as the Pines course. Its scenic parkland setting is carved through southern New Jersey’s pine forest landscape with narrow bentgrass fairways, well-protected landing areas and over 6,800 yards of play.

Seaview Resort & Spa also features 297 luxurious guestrooms, a conference center, indoor and outdoor swimming, fitness center, tennis, volleyball and a myriad of children’s activities. Dolce Hotels and Resorts was recently awarded the management contract for the historic resort, located on 670 wooded acres of the pristine New Jersey shores of Reed’s Bay.

“Seaview always had great golf, and now it will have a great golf operator,” said Steven A. Rudnitsky, Dolce president and chief executive officer. “Troon will reawaken Seaview golf and help us promote the resort as a premier golf destination.”
