Scottsdale, Arizona – One of the finest resort golf experiences in the Southwest becomes more inspired as Troon Golf, the recognized world leader in luxury golf management, begins overseeing golf operations for The Phoenician – Arizona’s only Mobil Five-Star resort — owned and operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Inc.
“We’re pleased to create this alliance with Troon Golf,” stated John Beier, vice president of resorts for Starwood. “We look forward to working with Troon to further enhance our guests’ experience by providing luxury service and stellar course conditions,” added Bunty Ahamed, general manager for the 654-room resort. John Jackson will continue on as the resort’s golf director.
Stretching along the base of Camelback Mountain, the Valley’s most prominent landmark, the 27-hole Phoenician Golf Club features three unique nines that combine the very best of a tropical oasis and desert-style play. Homer Flint designed the original Oasis and Desert nines, and as part of a renovation in 1996, Ted Robinson created the Canyon nine with its awesome view of the city. The Oasis nine is the perfect tropical complement to the lavish resort, while the distinctive Sonoran terrain is in play on the holes that skirt Camelback Mountain. The golf club is open to resort guests, as well as the public.
“Troon Golf is thrilled to join with our Starwood partners at this highly-awarded golf facility,” stated Troon Golf Executive Vice President, Operations, John Easterbrook, Jr. “The Phoenician is an esteemed addition to our family of Troon Golf facilities and we are honored to offer our services at this premier resort destination.”
The internationally acclaimed Troon Golf brand ensures a successful operation for the company’s partners and clients, as well as an extraordinary experience for every member and guest. Troon Golf’s superior agronomic practices equate to championship-caliber golf at many of the world’s finest golf clubs and resorts.
