TROON GOLF EXPANDS INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Troon Golf, the world’s leading golf development, marketing, and management luxury brand, has entered into a joint venture with Brookfield Homes, Inc. to build and manage Boulder Ridge Golf Club. The daily-fee golf facility is now under construction approximately 45 minutes east of the San Francisco Bay area, just north of the Livermore area.

Slated to open in the fall of 2000, the Boulder Ridge Golf Club is a Gary Roger Baird design that will be the centerpiece of the intimate 400-acre community by the same name. Marked by the open rolling topography typical of the area and immense boulders unearthed during excavation, Boulder Ridge will fill the niche of a higher quality daily fee golf facility in and around the fast-growing community of Brentwood. The project is Troon Golf’s second in California using Baird’s design services, the first being Eagle Glen Golf Club located in Southern California’s Inland Empire in the hill country overlooking Corona.

“We are thrilled for this opportunity to provide a more refined level of play for the golfers in and around the entire Bay area,” said Troon Golf President and Chief Operating Officer Hud Hinton. “We foresee Boulder Ridge Golf Club playing an important role in the successful growth and development of the area around Brentwood.”

Carefully designed and constructed to blend with the rolling hills and farmland, Baird’s design will play to a par of 71 at slightly over 6,700 yards. Several picturesque water features will add beauty and challenge to this very playable layout. The indigenous boulders will serve as structural design elements in retaining walls, tee boxes, landscape features. Baird’s routing also takes advantage of the commanding views of Mt. Diablo, the most dominant landmark that towers midway between the San Francisco Bay and the new Boulder Ridge Community. Inside, Boulder Ridge guests will be greeted and served in the comfort of the 6,000 square-foot clubhouse that will house the bar and grill, golf shop, and locker facilities.

The 400-acre Boulder Ridge community offers 800 single family homes in three distinct settings: homes in Turnberry will open in early 2000. Inverness offers estate-sized lots, and Pinehurst features affordably priced homes that will be available in late 2000.

Brookfield Homes is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brookfield Properties Corporation, a publicly traded company. A diversified North American real estate company, Brookfield Properties Corporation has been active in the real estate industry with extensive expertise in North American. “The inclusion of the Troon Golf brand ensures Boulder Ridge of the outstanding quality and service level we envisioned for this development,” said Brookfield Homes President, John Ryan. “We are very anxious to see the finished product and open our doors to residents and guests in this area.” Boulder Ridge Golf Club will operate strictly on a daily-fee basis. However, Boulder Ridge homeowners will be entitled to special resident programs that will be announced a later date.
