FROM THE DESK OF ROB DeMORE: SOMETHING TO NOT THINK ABOUT

SOMETHING TO NOT THINK ABOUT
“Here’s something that’s contrary to popular belief: I actually don’t like thinking. I think people think I like to think a lot. And I don’t. I do not like to think at all.” — Kanye West
AMONG THIS YEAR’S HAILSTORM of riveting news was the latest discovery about how our brains actually work. A study published in Nature Communications by a team of psychology experts at Queen’s University in Canada has found a way to count the number of thoughts we have on a daily basis.
The discovery is that on average, a human being has approximately 6,200 thoughts per day. What is not breaking news, is that the people who have more positive thoughts are happier people.
Given that we are in the happiness business, it is incumbent upon us at Troon to do our part in curating environments that trigger happy thoughts and create lasting memories. Our mission to create places where people can be healthy and happy is now more important than ever.
We have long held the expectation in our clubs that the pursuit of creating happy thoughts is done deliberately by focusing on details small and large — from flattering mirror lighting in the locker rooms, to the employee meals served each day at our clubs, to the health of each blade of grass. Every touch point matters, and it is our pleasure to help keep your burrito of 6,200 thoughts per day on the happy side of the ledger.
On behalf of Troon Privé, I wish you all cheerful thoughts, excellent health, and a happier New Year this holiday season. And here’s to not having to overthink in 2021!
