San Diego Golf Guide: Aviara Golf Club

San Diego Golf Guide: Aviara Golf Club

Posted on January 28, 2016

On a recent trip to San Diego, California, I got the chance to visit Aviara Golf Club. Located in Carlsbad, the golf course was designed by Arnold Palmer and hosts the Kia Classic. While in San Diego, I grabbed a copy of the San Diego Golf Guide. Inside was a feature on Aviara.

"Overlooking Batiquitos Lagoon, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort's panoramic vistas enticed legendary golfer Arnold Palmer to become the course designer. Inspired by its stunning terrain, Palmer created a series of unforgettable shot-making challenges. Framed by abundant native wildflowers, the challenging layout winds through rolling valleys and countless water features. Tees, fairways and greens are manicured to meet the most demanding standards. Park Hyatt Aviara Resort's elegantly appointed clubhouse features complete locker facilities, as well as superb dining at the Four Diamond Argyle Steakhouse."

This truly is a special place. The Guide goes on to say, "The Arnold Palmer-designed course has been ranked by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine as one of the best resort courses in the country. Four sets of tees, measuring 7,007 yards to 5,007 yards, allow golfers of every ability to enjoy this elite golf experience."

When I arrived at Aviara, it was early in the morning, and I was greeted by a starter with a hot cup of coffee, a freshly baked muffin and directions to the practice facility. It doesn't get much better than Aviara Golf Club, and I look forward to the Kia Classic so I can see this unforgettable facility on television.
