When starting your fitness journey, things can look daunting at times and really steer you in the opposite direction when trying to have a healthier lifestyle. Walking into a gym uncertain of what to do, not feeling like you fit in or just feeling judged are completely normal things to feel when starting off. When in reality, majority of individuals would gladly help point you into the right direction and proud you’re making the decision to better yourself for the future.
Keeping things simple starting out is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Stick with what you’re comfortable doing to begin with and do what you’re capable of doing on a consistent basis and building a routine. Consistency is the most important thing in fitness and that’s when you’ll see the greatest changes.
As I mentioned before, something is always better than nothing as well. You don’t always have to go to a gym, get a certain amount of reps in or workout for a certain amount of time. Our bodies do need rest and time to recover, but do not get in the habit of consistently taking multiple days off in a row. Take a walk on an off day, go on a hike or just do some pushups and crunches just to get the blood pumping a little bit. You’ll be happier at the end of the day knowing you put in a little effort, rather than none at all.
And like always, enjoy the process.
