Team Troon on Tour: Close one for JT, 3 Top Ten Finishes at Workday Charity Open

This week’s PGA TOUR event, the Workday Charity Open at Muirfield Village, was one that could be defined as a “close one” for Team Troon ambassador Justin Thomas. Holding a 3 shot lead on the 16th tee of the final round, Justin looked like he was on his way to victory. But another tour “young gun” in Colin Morikawa fought back. Colin took Justin to a playoff and ultimately won on the event on the 3rd extra hole. Justin took the event in stride, “If you don’t learn from a past experience, it’s a wasted opportunity #onward”. Well said Justin! That statement (and so many other reasons) make us proud to have him on Team Troon.

Overall Team Troon represented REALLY WELL with all five Team Troon players that competed finishing in the top 40 and THREE TEAM TROON AMBASSADORS FINISHING IN THE TOP 10! In addition to Justin Thomas’ 2nd, Gary Woodland finished T5 and Patrick Cantlay finished T7). Impressive results from the team. Below are all of Team Troon scores/finished for the Workday Charity Open:
- 2nd Justin Thomas: -19
- T5 Gary Woodland: -12
- T7 Patrick Cantlay: -11
- T27 Matt Fitzpatrick: -7
- T39 Matt Kuchar: -4
Coming Up
For the first time ever (that we know of), the PGA TOUR will play back to back PGA TOUR events at Muirfield Village, with this week’s version being the rescheduled Memorial. Team Troon will be represented strongly. In fact The Memorial’s defending champion is Team Troon ambassador, Patrick Cantlay. In addition, four other Team Troon players will be competing in a stout field (ie the top 12 in the FedExCup standings are all in the field – and this is the first time since 2016 that all Top 5 players in the world are in the field for The Memorial). Team Troon in the Memorial field includes:
- Patrick Cantlay (Defending Champion)
- Justin Thomas (Nearly won at Muirfield yesterday)
- Gary Woodland
- Matt Kuchar
- Matt Fitzpatrick
