Team Troon on Tour: Fitzpatrick Finishes 2nd at DP World Tour in Dubai

EUROPEAN TOUR

This week’s Team Troon on Tour headline was abroad: in U.A.E, where defending champion of the DP World Tour Championship, Matt Fitzpatrick, was on the leaderboard again in his quest to win this event for the third time.  In addition, to Fitzpatrick’s victory in 2020, he also won the event in 2016. He would play solidly throughout the event but ultimately he would fall just three shots shy of eventual winner (and Race to Dubai title winner) in Colin Morikawa. Nonetheless, congrats on yet another solid week for Fitzpatrick.

PGA TOUR

The PGA Tour was in Sea Island, Georgia for The RSM Classic held at Sea Island’s ocean side, Seaside Course. Team Troon was led by Matt Kuchar who put up another sound finish within the Top 40. Kuchar would start off his week with a solid 65 to jump into contention and ultimately would finish at -7 for a T37 finish. Solid playing Kuuuch!

A belated congrats is in order for the entirety of the Phoenix Country Club team for a great Charles Schwab Cup Championship week. The event and the course showed off in exceptional fashion both on the grounds and on the global Golf Channel coverage. Eventual winner Phil Mickelson was quoted as complimenting the golf course conditions and “perfect putting greens” on more than one occasion.

Colin Montgomerie and his all Troon bag was in the field and would finish T31 at -5 for the week.

As many saw in the week (s) prior Troon was excited to announce the addition of Bubba Watson to Team Troon! The joint announcement/press release was picked up by a number of outlets including Golfweek/USA Today (CLICK HERE to view). Golfweek also pushed it out to their social followers, including 180K followers on Golfweek’s twitter handle. Welcome to Team Troon Bubba!

While not exactly Team Troon related, a congrats is in order for the team at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples. The Team hosted the grand finale of the LPGA Tour season, the CME Group Tour Championship, which brought together the world’s best players to Tiburon in a unique, season-long point based qualifying format. Related to the results from this year’s event, four players slept on the 54-hole co-lead, and defending champion Jin Young Ko came out on top to win the largest purse on the LPGA Tour in $1.5 million. Her final round 63, would help her set a new tournament scoring record at -23 and would secured her second Rolex Player of the Year award…and the first Korean player to achieve the feat twice. Congrats Jin Young and congrats Team Tiburon on a great week!

Go TEAM TROON!
