Team Troon On Tour: Fitzpatrick & Woodland with T20 finishes at U.S. Open

Team Troon - Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, Yealimi Noh, Matt Kuchar, Alex Noren, Bubba Watson, Cheyenne Woods & Colin Montgomerie

As the third major of the year came, so did a great week of golf in Los Angeles. LA Country Club was a stunning host venue for the 123rd edition of the U.S. Open where Team Troon member Matt Fitzpatrick, came into the event as the defending champion (and would have a great highlight in the form of a hole-in-one – more on that later). Matt Fitzpatrick was low Team Troon member finishing -1 for the event in T17 followed by Gary Woodland who finished T20. Props to Troon Investor/Supporter Rory McIlroy who held strong on the leaderboard the entire week after a first round 65. Rory would ultimately finish T2 (one shot shy of Clark), but is in great form going into the fourth and final major of the year.

Team Troon U.S. Open results are as follows:.

  • T17 Matt Fitzpatrick: 71-70-68-70 = 279 / -1
  • T20 Gary Woodland: 70-68-73-75 = 286 / +6

PGA TOUR- Travelers Championship

The Travelers Championship begins today and is another designated event with a stout field and $20 Million purse. Some fun history of the event was back in 2016, Jim Furyk carded a 58 on his final round for the event, making him the first player ever to card that score on the PGA Tour. Four members of Team Troon are competing: Gary Woodland, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick and Matt Kuchar.

LPGA-KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

The LPGA are landing in New Jersey again this week for one of five majors on the schedule. Starting back in 1955, the event is one of the longest standing events on the LPGA Tour with the Tour starting in 1950.

The course will be playing ay 6,831 yards this week. Yealimi Noh is in the field ready to go low in this major.

As shared above,  Team Troon member and 2022 U.S. Open champion, Matt Fitzpatrick carded a Hole-in-One during the Friday round. As a result Matt’s  “Hollywood Sign” inspired Troon bag got some great TV time and also great coverage on Social Media. Including some create social moments shared by our friends at Golf Channel/NBC!
