PGA TOUR – Valero Texas Open
The PGA TOUR continued their gallop through the Lone Star State for their second stop in Texas, in consecutive weeks. This one being the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. Team Troon had two players in the field in Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland and both played very well. At one point during the final round, Kuch was in a four way tie for the lead at -10 with Woodland lurking close behind at -8. Ultimately, Matt Kuchar would finish T2, just two shots shy of eventual first time winner J.J. Spaun. Spaun punched his proverbial ticket to both the Masters this week and Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua in nine months. Overall a solid week for both Gary and Matt.
- T2 Matt Kuchar: 67-69-72-69 = 277 / -11
- T8 Gary Woodland: 70-67-72-70 = 279 / -9
PGA Champions Tour – Rapiscan Systems Classic
As shared last week, Grand Bear Golf Club, a VICI Golf property in Saucier, MS played first time host to the PGA Champions Tour Rapiscan Systems Classic. Seventy-eight of the top PGA TOUR Champions players and World Golf Hall of Fame Members, took on this stunning Jack Nicklaus design that is just a short drive from the Gulf Coast destination of Biloxi, Mississippi. Steven Alker cruised to his second victory shooting a 7-under 65 in the final round Sunday to win by six shots with a three round total of -18. Alker fired a course record 62 during the second round to take the lead, and followed it up by playing near-flawless golf to roll to victory.
