Team Troon on Tour: T26 Finish by Thomas at WGC and T7 Woodland finish at the Barracuda

PGA TOUR
The PGA TOUR had two events occurring concurrently this week… and Team Troon had representation in both. First off, the WGC Fed Ex St. Jude’s Invitational had a strong field taking on TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. Low Team Troon member in this event was Justin Thomas who finished at -5 for T26 followed by Matt Fitzpatrick who finished +3 at T57.
- T26 Justin Thomas: 67-67-69-72: -5
- T57 Matt Fitzpatrick: 70-72-67-74: +3
At the Barracuda Championship in Trukee, California, low Team Troon member was Gary Woodland who finished within the Top 10 at T7 for a score of +38. The Barracuda Championship is the only PGA TOUR event that uses the Modified Stableford scoring format. Unlike traditional scoring methods, where the aim is to have the lowest score, the objective in a Modified Stableford tournament is to have the highest score. Scoring at the Barracuda Championship looked like the following:
Double Eagle: 8 points
Eagle: 5 points
Birdie: 2 points
Par: 0 points
Bogey: -1 point
Double Bogey or more: -3 points
Gary Woodland finished with +38, 12 behind eventual winner Erik Van Rooyen who posted +50.
Gary’s actual round scores were as follows:
- T7 Gary Woodland: 72-66-67-65: +38
