Team Troon - Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, Yealimi Noh, Matt Kuchar, Alex Noren, Bubba Watson, Cheyenne Woods & Colin Montgomerie

PGA TOUR – Farmers Insurance Open

Coming off the AMEX in Palm Springs, California the PGA TOUR slid towards to coastline for the Farmers at Torrey Pines in San Diego. Team Troon had two players in the field, Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland as the world of golf was anxious to see if Callaway Golf staffer, Jon Rahm, would win his third event in a row (the prior wins coming at the Amex and the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua). Ultimately hometown professional (and reigning Silverado/Fortinet champion) Max Homa would take home the victory. Low Team Troon member was Justin Thomas.  He would start off hot with an opening round 68 and would end up finishing T25 at -1.  Gary Woodland would finish next “low Team Troon” member at T62.

  • T25 Justin Thomas: 68-74-73-72 = 287 /-1
  • T62 Gary Woodland: 66-77-78-73 = 294 / +6

DP World Tour – Dubai & Abu Dhabi
World #1 and Troon Investor / supporter Rory McIlroy would come into the Hero Dubai Desert Classic as a favorite and wouldn’t disappoint. Rory would end up claiming victory with a four round total of -19, one shot ahead of Patrick Reed. The victory which ultimately would reaffirm his World #1 ranking. Congrats Rory from the World of Troon!

The week prior, Alex Noren started off his year on the DP World Tour with fine play. Including finishing T5 at the Abu Dhabi  HSBC Championships. Nice playing Alex!

  • T5 Alex Noren: 72-66-68-68 = 274 / -14

PGA Champions Tour – Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai
The PGA Champions Tour kicked off their 2023 season on Hawaii Island (formerly referred to as the “Big Island”) at Hualalai. Colin Montgomerie and his all Troon bag was on island, stalking the green fairways framed with lava – a staple of Kohala Coast golf on Hawaii Island (more on that below). Colin would finish amongst the Top 20 after two great opening rounds in the 60’s and following the posting of a three round total of -9 . Congrats and Aloha Colin!

  • T18 Colin Montgomerie:    69-68-70 = 207 / – 9

Fun Fact: right up the road from Hualalai lies two gems that are popular amongst resort travelers (and residents alike), Mauna Lani’s North and South Courses located at Mauna Lani Auberge Resorts Collection. Congrats to the team at Mauna Lani on your recent upward movement in Golfweek’s Top 200 Resort Courses!

Korn Ferry Tour – Ben Silverman (from BallenIsles) Wins In The Bahamas!
While not Team Troon per say, we would be remiss if we did not say CONGRATS to Ben Silverman on winning the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic! Ben,  who plays/practices at BallenIsles, captured the victory in dramatic fashion: winning a one hole sudden death playoff after shooting a four round total of -15. Congrats Ben on your victory!  Fun item of note: Ben also is in the field for this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He will be playing with Green Bay Packer’s Aaron Rodgers). BallenIsles and the World of Troon will be pulling for you this week Ben!

In advance of teeing it up in Hawaii at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, Colin Montgomerie dropped this great tweet to his 63K Twitter followers about his new 2023 All Troon Golf Bag (from PowerAce) and new hardcovers (from our friends at CMC Custom Gifts). As you can see below, the tweet had some great engagement with his fans and @Troon followers. For those not already following “Monty”, be sure to follow him on your favorite social channel as he always pushes out great social content.  “Mahalo” (thank you) Colin for the nice social shout out and all you do.

Speaking of Colin, CONGRATS to Colin and Sarah on your recent nuptials. See Colin’s Instagram post below about his special day!  We hope your wedding day was stunning and your honeymoon in Hawaii was equally amazing. Congrats to you both from your Troon family.

That’s a wrap. Have a great week. Go Team Troon!
