WOW! What a week in the world of Troon. It was really cool watch PGA Champions and LPGA action taking place concurrently at TWO Troon-affiliated locations. The PGA Champions Tour event, the Chubb Classic was held at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, in Naples and at the same time the LPGA TOUR was being played at Kapolei Golf Club on Oahu, Hawaii. At both locales we had Team Troon members in the field….not to mention we had three Team Troon members play quite well at the RBC Heritage on the PGA TOUR. More on that below but congratulations is in order for both the teams at Tiburón Golf Club and Kapolei Golf Club for putting on two great events (both of which looked great on the national/global television coverage). Also we’d be remiss if we didn’t say congrats to Steve Stricker (who captured the Chubb Classic at Tiburón Golf Club ) and to Lydia Ko (who was victorious at Kapolei for the Lotte Championship) Now back to Team Troon as the following recaps the specifics on Team Troon finishes from last week:
The aforementioned RBC Heritage at Harbor Town had three Team Troon members in the field. All three played quite well with all three finishing inside the Top 25. Matt Fitzpatrick led Team Troon players with a solid T4 finish following three great rounds (round 2-4) of 64, 68 and 68. His all Troon bag got some good coverage on the weekend including his pre round practice sessions that were being aired on Golf Channel’s pre game coverage. Complete Team Troon results are as follows:
- T4 – Matt Fitzpatrick 71-64-68-68: -13
- T18 – Matt Kuchar 70-68-67-70: -9
- T25 – Alex Noren 71-68-68-69: -8
Congrats to Matt, Matt and Alex on a solid week!
PGA Champions Tour
Colin Montgomerie and his all Troon bag was in the field this week for the Chubb Classic at Tiburón Golf Club. Colin would ultimately finish T44 in the first Champions Tour event since the Cologuard in Tucson
- T44 – Colin Montgomerie 72-72-73: +1
Cheyenne Woods and her all Troon bag made the trip to Kapolei Golf Club for the LPGA Lotte Championship. She posted two stable rounds of 72-71 to start -1 but fell just two shots shy of the -3 cut line.
It was great to see both Colin and Cheyenne competing last week at these stunning Troon locales.
Coming Up Next Week
The PGATOUR moves over to New Orleans for the Zurich Classic (a Team Event). Team Troon member Alex Noren will be in the field, teaming up with Henrik Norlander). Go Alex!
