It’s US Open Week!

Another major week is upon us on the PGA Tour. This one being the 121st US Open staged on a public west coast venue in Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, CA. If you recall the last time a U.S. Open was staged on a public venue on the west coast, we had a Team Troon major win in Gary Woodland, when he captured the 2019 US Open at Pebble Beach after a posting a four round total of -13. That was a special moment for Gary and for Team Troon. The last time the U.S. Open was at Torrey Pines was in 2008 when Tiger Woods defeated Rocco Mediate in dramatic fashion…via a playoff on an injured leg…etc. The four round total that year (to get into the playoff) was -1, 281. As such it will be interesting to see how the scores will fall this year. Team Troon will be well represented at the 2021 U.S. Open with four Team Troon players in the field, including:

  • Matt Fitzpatrick
  • Matt Kuchar
  • Justin Thomas
  • Gary Woodland

Go Team Troon! Play well this week!

Speaking of the U.S. Open…keep your eyes peeled for the “San Diego-inspired” Troon golf bag Matt Fitzpatrick will be rocking this week. This bag was developed in collaboration with a number of our Southern California-based leaders in the field (or those with ties to So Cal). Thank you Patrick, Tom, Christina, Bill, Alec, Brady and others for your input/ideas.  Graphics on the side pay homage to the landscape of the cliff side locale of Torrey Pines and the many hang gliders typically spotted flying over the course and beach. The color pallet is “California ocean/sky blue” inspired. We will neither confirm nor deny if there was some inspiration from the former (probably should still be there) San Diego based professional football team color pallet.  The bag is also highlighted with “San Diego”  on each side. And of course our large Troon logos and Troon.com throughout (side, strap, ball pocket, bottom, etc).  Photos of the bag are below.

Have a great week…enjoy the U.S. Open…Happy Father’s Day (in advance) to the Dads in the World of Troon…and Go Team Troon!
