PGA TOUR- Genesis Scottish Open

This week, the best players in the world crossed “the pond” and played in the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club. A big congratulations to Troon Investor/Supporter Rory McIlroy for winning the event! It was a great week of competitive golf and exciting to watch as it came down to Rory’s birdie on 18 to secure the Championship. Team Troon was in the field as well and it was Gary Woodland who lead the team in low scoring for the event as well as carded “red numbers” all week despite the wind and weather conditions that was present in Scotland. Team Troon results as follows. Congrats Rory, Gary and JT!

  • T25 Gary Woodland: 70-68-66-71 = 275 / -5
  • T60 Justin Thomas: 68-69-69-75 = 279 / -1

PGA TOUR Champions-Bridgestone Senior PGA Championship

The Champions played in the Bridgestone Senior Player Championship and our Team Troon Colin Montgomerie carded yet another under par tournament this week. He finished with a four round total at -1, getting him into the top 30.

  • T27 Colin Montgomerie: 72-73-71-69 = 285 / -1

COMING UP

The Open Championship

The final major of the year tees off this week for the historic Open Championship. This year’s edition plays out at Royal Liverpool. A few “fun facts” regarding The Open Championship

  • This is the oldest of the modern day four majors, dating back to 1860.
  • There are nine courses in the Open rotation including the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links, Muirfield, the Ailsa Course at  Turnberry, Royal Troon Golf Club, Royal St. George’s Golf Club, Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, and Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
  • In 2014 Rory McIlroy won his third major of his career shooting a four round total of -17 to beat Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia.
