The Bahrain Unity Cup Challenge At Royal Golf Club Bahrain Raises Over BD 8,000 For Charity

The Bahrain Unity Cup Challenge organized by 2021 Men’s Captain Keith Watson, took place on Saturday 22nd May at The Royal Golf Club. This inaugural event brought together Bahraini’s, Expat’s, Men, Women and Junior golfers from around the country, all unified for a great cause. The one-day event drew 88 golfers from the three Bahrain clubs The Royal Golf Club, Awali G.C. and Bahrain G.C, all joining together for a fun filled competitive golf event. The format of the competition was a ‘Bahrain’ team competing against a ‘Rest of the World’ team in a pairs match play which led to a very close result, the Rest of the World team narrowly taking the trophy by one point out of 22 x matches

The event raised in excess of BD 8,000 for Smile Charity. Smile is dedicated to spreading awareness about children’s cancer in Bahrain and providing the social and psychological support to children cancer patients. Smile Charity, run solely by the exceptional volunteers, works hard to ensure the children keep on smiling!

A big thank you to our Platinum sponsors who supported this great event: NBB, Al Salam Bank, Riffa Views, Reza Hygiene and Jazeerat Al Yaqut. Also thank you to Adamas Motors, Fire Science Academy, Ann & Robert Timmers, Keith & Jan Watson, Al Rayyed Eye Centre and Central Medical Laboratories for their support.

Men’s Captain Keith Watson says “The objective of the event was to unify golfers of all nationality, age and gender in support of a great cause. I am very pleased we achieved this and despite the ongoing restrictions the event was a tremendous success and I look forward to next year’s tournament which has already attracted sponsor attention. Also, a special thank you to all the sponsors who helped to raise such a great amount of money for Smile who were overwhelmed with the support they have received.”
