The Troon Challenge Is Underway

The first local qualifier for the 2009 Troon Challenge is in the books with two teams punching their ticket to the finals at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The event took place on May 3 at Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz., with 30 teams competing to earn a spot at the Troon Challenge Finals. It was clear that Bruce and Todd Sapiro felt comfortable playing on their home course after they scored a 66 to take first place in the Gross Division. In the Net Division, Russ Watson and Kyle Nelson from Scottsdale scored the low round of 61 to take first place and advance to the finals (winning teams pictured below).

With just one event down, there are still plenty of opportunities to compete in the Troon Challenge at several of the finest courses in the country. The next event will take place at Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony Fla. on May 16, followed by an event at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz. on May 24.

Entry forms and information on fees and qualifying dates are available at www.troonchallenge.com.
