Troon Challenge Continues to Offer Stiff Competition

Four recent events with a combined field of 270 golfers, demonstrates that this year might be the most highly contested Troon Challenge yet. With several more events scheduled through the end of July, those who earn their way to the finals at Troon North Golf Club will definitely deserve their invitation.

Players from Arizona who recently punched their ticket to the finals were Brian Bush and Richard Yeager in the Gross Division (65) and Mike Lehr and Anthony Mahan in the Net Division (62), competing at Southern Dunes Golf Club; Andy Adudell and David Kondzich in the Gross Division (61) and Jill Gallagher and Talon Littrell in the Net Division (66) at Golf Club of Estrella; and Martin Lewis and Mike Trott in the Gross Division (66) and Russ Watson and Kyle Nelson in the Net Division (62) at Talking Stick Golf Club.

In California, first-place finishers at the qualifying event at Indian Wells Golf Resort were Stephen Watson and Bradley Strzelczyk in the Gross Division (68) and Bill McMurtrey and Bob Cordova in the Net Division (66).

From The Ridge at Castle Pines North in Colorado, Brian Richmeier and Andy Dannewitz qualified in the Gross Division (63) and Mark Massey and Jae Edwards in the Net Division (59).

The Troon Challenge continues this weekend at The Phoenician in Arizona and Yocha Dehe Golf Club in California.

The Troon Challenge is a series of golf tournaments offering amateur golfers the chance to compete for a spot at the National Finals held at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., August 27-28, 2011.
