The Troon Challenge Is Underway

The first two local qualifiers for the 2011 Troon Challenge are officially in the books after exciting opening events at Harmony Golf Preserve in Florida and Ocotillo Golf Resort in Arizona.

The Troon Challenge at Harmony drew 24 teams competing for a chance to play in the finals at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. First place in the Gross Division was Martin Deguire and Mark Huber, shooting a 67 while Lou Filetti and Mike Whitworth took first place in the Net Division with their score of 65.

Among the 35 teams that competed at Ocotillo Golf Resort, it was Sean Valcamp and Mike DeOrio’s score of 72 in the Gross Division and Brian Curtis and Dennis Curtis’ score of 58 in the Net Division that earned their spots for the upcoming finals.

With just two events down, there are still plenty of opportunities to compete in the Troon Challenge at several of the finest courses in the country. The next event will take place on Sunday, May 15 at Southern Dunes Golf Club in Arizona – ranked #6 in the state by Golfweek magazine. And there is still space available!
