Victoria Golf Resort Celebrates Aluth Avurudu

In April, Victoria Golf Resort in Sri Lanka celebrated Aluth Avurudu, otherwise known as Sinhalese New Year. General Manager, Kanchana Wickramasinghe shared an insight into how the facility celebrated this year with members and associates.

On April 13th, 2023, we hosted a delightful Avurudhu (Sinhalese New Year) celebration for our esteemed guests at Victoria Golf Resort. The event was filled with joyous festivities, allowing our guests to experience the vibrant traditions of Sri Lanka. The air was filled with excitement as families and friends gathered to partake in a variety of cultural activities.

The day kicked off with traditional games such as Kana Mutti Bindeema, where blindfolded participants attempted to break a clay pot filled with coloured water. Guests also enjoyed a range of fun activities, including in calypso music and Raban playing. The highlight of the celebration was the sumptuous lunch, featuring an array of Sri Lankan delicacies and mouthwatering sweets, such as kokis, kavum, and athirasa.

Continuing the festive spirit, on April 27th, 2023, we organized an equally exciting Avurudhu celebration exclusively for our dedicated staff. The day was filled with laughter and camaraderie as colleagues came together to participate in a range of enjoyable games and activities. From sack races to tug-of-war, the staff engaged in friendly competitions, fostering team spirit and a sense of unity.

After the exhilarating games, everyone gathered for a special lunch, where the staff indulged in a delectable spread of Sri Lankan dishes, including traditional sweets that added a touch of sweetness to the occasion.

The Avurudhu celebrations for our staff were a perfect way to express our appreciation for their hard work and dedication throughout the year, creating lasting memories and a sense of togetherness.
