Where In The World Is DJ: La Vie Club, Oman February 2023

It’s been a while since DJ Flanders headed over to Oman, but with a new property joining the Troon family, LA VIE Club, he has had the opportunity to experience Omani hospitality again and explore what’s changed in Muscat.

Last week I had the opportunity to visit one of our newest properties in the Troon International portfolio which is located in Muscat, Oman. LA VIE Club is an 18-hole golf course located right in the heart of a reimagined development, LA VIE, which has seen significant investment and commitment to excellence from our partner Ominvest. During my visit, I was able to attend Ominvest’s 40-year celebrations where they revealed the LA VIE brand.

LA VIE Club will be a important enhancement to the golfing landscape in Oman, and a major compliment to golf tourism for the country too. The game of golf has seen significant growth in Oman over the last 20 years.  In 2008, the first grass golf course in Oman was opened, the Almouj Golf Course, which is situated in Muscat.  Since then, several other courses have opened, including Ghana Valley Golf Club, Jebel Sifah Golf Course and Ras Al Hamra.  These course have attracted golfers from around the world and have helped Oman to becoming a viable golfing destination.

The growth of golf in Oman can be attributed to several factors.  Firstly, the government has invested in the development of golf courses and facilities, recognizing the potential of the sport to attract tourists and generate revenue.  Additionally, the sport has gained popularity among the local population, with many Omanis taking up golf as a hobby or sport on the back of the hard work of the Oman Golf Association.

Furthermore, the country’s favorable climate, with warm weather and sunny skies for much of the year provides ideal conditions for golfers.  The presence of world-class golf courses and facilities has also helped to attract international tournaments and events, further promoting the growth of the sport in the country.

Overall, the growth of golf in Oman over the last 20 years has been impressive, but it is anticipated that Oman will realize a significant lift in Golf Tourism and participation in the years to come.
