Butler Extends Lead to Three at Sizzler Amateur
John Marshall Butler (Louisville, KY), a rising freshman at Auburn University, backed up his tournament-record 64 during Monday’s first round with a 5-under par 67 at Troon North Golf Club on the Monument course. Hazen Newman (Las Vegas, NV, and Oklahoma State) is three shots back at 10 under par after shooting back-to-back 67s. Another shot back are two players—local product Tucker Clark (Phoenix) and Christian Banke (Danville, CA) are another shot back at -9.
The Sizzler is in its fourth year and is one of the very first international amateur events being played since most tournaments were shut down in mid-March.
