Byrd Wins APGA Tour Event at St John’s Golf & Country Club in Florida

St. John’s Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. recently hosted an Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour event, March 20 and 21. The 36-hole stroke-play competition featured 45 players competing for a share of the $25,000 purse. Marcus Byrd of Temple Hills, Maryland followed an opening round 6-under 66, with a final round 5-under 67 to win by 10 shots over Kevin Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio, Zachary Juhasz of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Davin White of McDonough, Georgia.

The Northern Florida tour stop was the third event of the 2023 APGA Tour season and was Byrd’s second victory. Byrd also won the season-opening APGA Farmers Insurance Invitational played at Torrey Pines in San Diego. Kevin Hall won the second event, the Black History Month Classic at Indian Canyon Golf Resort in Palm Springs, California.

The APGA TOUR was established in 2010 as a non-profit organization with the mission to bring greater diversity to the game of golf. The APGA Tour Board of Directors works to accomplish this by hosting and operating professional golf tournaments, player development programs, mentoring programs and by introducing the game to inner city young people. In addition to conducting an expected 18 tournaments awarding close to $1 million in prize and bonus money in 2023, the APGA has organized a Player Development Program to aid young minority golfers as they work to chase their goals in professional golf.

St. John’s Golf & Country Club is managed by Indigo Sports, a Troon Company, and features an 18-hole Clyde Johnston-designed golf course. Troon is proud to support the APGA Tour and its efforts to bring greater diversity to the game of golf.
