Q: When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up and please explain if there was a story around that.

A: I am from the north of Spain and growing up on the coast, I used to participate in sand castle contests also either painting or drawing what I saw from day to day, showing I had potential art and craft talents. I think that’s why I had an early passion to become an architect when I grew up.

Q: What is one or two interesting facts about your heritage that you would like to share with us?

A: I have always loved sports, believe it or not, my favorite sport was skiing not golf! There are two ski resorts in northern Spain and I started to ski at just 7 years old. During the winter months we used to go on the weekends and I absolutely loved it. This early sporting passion meant I did not actually start playing golf until I was 11 years old.

Q: Who got you into the business or game of golf and what was your first experience at a golf course/range?

A: My father and older brother got me into the game. I used to join, helping them look for the golf balls in the woods, until one day they asked me if I wanted to try and hit a shot myself. I swung, made that connection, my golfing journey had begun.

Q: Was there a mentor that helped guide you along your current career path and was there a piece of advice that helped you along your way?

A: My dad has definitely been my mentor since the beginning and throughout my whole golfing career. He taught to be resilient, patient, hard working.

A piece of advice from my dad, “nothing is given in life, we all face obstacles. Having the courage to face these obstacles and overcome them makes you stronger and a better version of yourself”

Q: How long have you worked for Troon and what has been your career progression; what do you love most about your job?

A: I have worked for Troon for 3 years and within this time I have progressed from PGA Assistant Professional to Senior Professional.

I love the fact that this allows me to perform different jobs within my role, from coaching to retail to management which makes the job really dynamic and interesting.

Q: What do you do in your daily job or life to inspire other minorities to get them interested in the game of golf or into the golf business as a career?

A: To be honest I always endeavor to inspire all; we are all minorities in one way shape or form. Giving anyone the confidence to take up and enjoy the game is a huge must for me. I have encouraged my other half to take the PGA degree with his potential abilities. On site I also motivate ladies in my clinics to get together and play as well as county golfers in lessons who need the direction on where they may start their own golfing pathways.

Q: What is your dream foursome for golf (you and three others) or for lunch (if you don’t golf)?

A: Miguel Angel Jimenez, Chris Hemsworth, Anika Sorenstam and myself
