ORO VALLEY AND EL CONQUISTADOR GOLF & TENNIS WELCOME FIRST TEE OF TUCSON PROGRAM

El Conquistador Golf & Tennis in Oro Valley is a new junior golf programming site for The First Tee of Tucson. The First Tee of Tucson uses golf to teach lessons about respect, sportsmanship, judgment along with learning self-management skills, problem solving skills, and goal setting skills, all while preparing for college and a career.

Children and young adults ages 5 through 17 can join The First Tee of Tucson for a yearly fee of $25. A typical six week session fee is $10. The fee includes enrollment in The First Tee Life Skills Program which incorporates golf skills instruction along with a life skills curriculum. The first Fall Session at El Conquistador Golf & Tennis begins on Monday, August 26th.

“The new First Tee location at El Conquistador ensures junior golfers in Oro Valley have a top-notch facility to learn and grow,” said Tom Meade, general manager, El Conquistador Golf & Tennis. “Through numerous youth programs such as The First Tee, Troon and El Conquistador are committed growing the game of golf, while also preparing our youth for a lifetime of success.”

The First Tee is a youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after school and in-school programs, The First Tee helps shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. The First Tee of Tucson, a chapter of the National First Tee program and part of the World Golf Foundation, is currently at nine locations throughout Pima County.

“The First Tee of Tucson is proud to partner with El Conquistador,” said Landyn Lewis, PGA, The First Tee of Tucson’s Program and Life Skills Director. “Our goal is to impact youth lives through the game of golf. Being a member of The First Tee means a whole lot more than just learning how to play golf, it’s learning how to be a good person and community member.”

El Conquistador Golf and Tennis recently welcomed 50 junior golfers to participate in the inaugural First Tee of Tucson event at El Conquistador. Held on Monday, July 29th, El Conquistador members and club staff volunteered at the event, which included a chipping clinic by PGA TOUR Champions golfer and Tucson resident Don Pooley.
