Marbella, Spain (23 March 2023): Finca Cortesin, venue of the 2023 Solheim Cup, is celebrating six months to go until its hosting of the event with the announcement of rising Spanish Ladies European Tour (LET) professional, Ana Pelaez Trivino, as a new ambassador at the resort.

The LET star will help to showcase Finca Cortesin’s support for the women’s game, as well as highlight its position as one of the world’s best lifestyle and leisure destinations.

A native to the Costa del Sol, Pelaez has excelled on tour throughout the last year with her all-round technical ability and accurate ball striking, after bursting onto the scene in May 2022 with victory at the Madrid Ladies Open.

Having celebrated her 25th birthday yesterday, she is widely regarded as one of Spain’s most promising talents and is eyeing up a place on Suzann Pettersen’s European Team in September. An impressive start to the 2023 season with three top 10 finishes in recent weeks has seen her move up into the Top 100 of the Rolex Women’s World Rankings and third in the LET Solheim Cup points list.

It is incredible opportunity to represent Finca Cortesin and have their unconditional support whilst playing week-in-week-out on the Ladies European Tour. To be able to play regularly and train at the host venue of the 2023 Solheim Cup is an amazing experience and one that will definitely help to propel me to the next level in my career,” said Pelaez. “The resort has a great record of supporting local women and girls in the industry and providing them with the necessary conditions to succeed.”

Vicente Rubio, Managing Director and President of Finca Cortesin, said: “Finca Cortesin is delighted to welcome Ana as an ambassador at the resort. As one of Spain’s best up-and-coming female professionals, we are looking forward having her represent us on Tour at many different destinations throughout the world. Having Ana associated with the resort will hopefully not only continue to elevate our position as the host venue of the Solheim Cup, but also help to inspire the next generation of female golfers in Spain.”

The resort hopes to work alongside Ana to showcase the importance of hosting the Solheim Cup in Spain for the first time ever. As the host venue for the event, we are committed to providing her with the necessary opportunities and conditions to compete for a position on the European team later this year.

Pelaez will represent Finca Cortesin on tour alongside fellow LET players and current ambassadors Nuria Iturrioz and Noemi Jimenez Martin. In addition to professional ambassadors, the resort went one step further last year by making Marta Figueras-Dotti, current Ladies European Tour Chair, an honorary member to align with ‘One Year to Go’ until the Solheim Cup staging.

Renowned amongst the best courses in Spain, the Cabell Robinson-designed course, with its newly redesigned 1st hole; featuring a risk-and-reward tee shot over a large lake that guards the front of the green; is set to host the biggest ever spectacle in women’s golf between 18-24 September.

Opened in March 2006 and set across 532 acres, Finca Cortesín is an independent luxury golf, hotel and spa destination located between Marbella and Sotogrande in Spain. Overlooking the Mediterranean to one side and the tranquil Casares Mountains to the other, Finca Cortesín was designed in the style of a traditional Spanish ‘hacienda’. Designed by renowned architect Cabell Robinson, the resort’s 18-hole championship golf course has played host to numerous professional golf tournaments including the Volvo World Matchplay Championship on three separate occasions and in 2021, reached even greater levels when it was awarded the rights to host one of the world’s biggest golf and sporting events in The 2023 Solheim Cup. Contested from 18-24 September 2023, Finca Cortesín will welcome the two teams led by their respective captains, Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis, to compete in the biennial golf event that is revered as one of the most ferocious rivalries seen across the sport.
