GOLF FOR WOMEN ANNOUNCES “TOP 50 COURSES FOR WOMEN”
SCOTTSDALE, AZ – With the ever-growing presence of women on the golf course, developing a course that is “women friendly” is on top-of-mind for architects and designers alike. Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing takes great pleasure in recognizing the following courses that were chosen as part of Golf for Women’s annual list of the “Top 50 Courses for Women” in the publication’s July/August issue.
The courses, all public in scope, were rated on playability, multiple tee offerings, layout, aesthetics, amenities and overall quality. Those Troon Golf-managed facilities that received this accolade include:

While not many golf architects are women, most are beginning to heed the needs of women. What this entails includes forward tee boxes that are equal to those that are rear — in both size and elevation, and no or limited forced carry – usually 60 yards or less. When forced carry is unavoidable, women-friendly architects provide alternate routes to the green – often referred to as bailout areas. In addition to course design, women friendly courses tend to make available higher-end amenities and specialized services to their female guests than are normally found in a typical golf facility. Some of these may include: high-end spa products in locker rooms, availability of top-brand rental clubs, ladies oriented golf instruction by female LPGA professionals, and most importantly, a staff that understands and caters to the differences between men and women.
