GOLF MAGAZINE RECOGNIZES THE TOP 10 INTERNATIONAL RESORTS

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing takes great pleasure in recognizing two of the company’s managed facilities that have been named to Golf Magazine’s inaugural list of the “Top 10 International Resorts.” Standing out from the most celebrated international golf resorts was the Westin Turnberry Resort and the One & Only Palmilla for their “special ambiance” that draws golfers back to play again.

Westin Turnberry Resort – Ayrshire, Scotland

Taking its rightful place in the history of the game, the stately five-star Westin Turnberry Resort is home to two championship golf courses from Scotland’s cradle of golf. Situated on the dramatic west coast of Scotland overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the historic hotel and golf courses are remindful of a grand country estate with 221 richly appointed rooms and suites. The Ailsa Course, dating back to 1909, ranks among the world’s top 100 golf courses, having hosted the British Open championship on no fewer than three occasions, the British Amateur and Walker Cup Matches. The Kintyre Course plays inland, threading through the characteristic Scottish gorse.

One & Only Palmilla – San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico

One & Only Palmilla features the Palmilla Golf Club, Jack Nicklaus’ first Latin America design recognized as the Grand Dame of golf in Los Cabos. Challenging, masterfully-conceived and stunningly beautiful, Palmilla has ocean views from every hole. The Ocean Course actually flows to the ocean as you play on the beaches of the Sea of Cortez. This 27-hole course is perched on deep canyon arroyos and sits among century old cardon cacti. Daily trade winds enhance pinpoint accuracy and challenge even the most experienced players at Palmilla.

We congratulate our partners at these two prestigious resort facilities,” stated Hud Hinton, president and COO, Troon Golf. “Golf Magazine is among the most respected publications in golf and earning recognition on this list is an exceptional achievement.”

Golf Magazine consulted their course ranking panelists, editors and serious travelers to compile their first ever “Top 10 International Resorts” list. While noting resorts with the most celebrated courses, countless amenities and incredible service, the 10 finalists were ultimately judged on having a “special ambiance” quality, which set them apart. According to Golf Magazine, this quality is what draws visitors “across an ocean to play there over and over.”
