THE CLUB AT THE DUNES NAMED A BLUE ZONES PROJECT APPROVED FACILITY
Naples, Florida (November 12, 2020) – The Club at the Dunes, part of The Dunes of Naples private residential community in Naples, Fla., has been recognized as a Blue Zones Project ApprovedTM facility. Blue Zones’ mission is informed and inspired by the world’s longest-lived cultures, helping people live longer, better lives by improving their environment.
To become a Blue Zones Project Approved facility, The Club at the Dunes demonstrated a commitment to providing opportunities to move naturally through activities such as organized sports, biking, stretching and exercising in the new, expanded wellness center. Additionally the Club at the Dunes promotes positive outlooks, eating/drinking wisely and connecting with the surrounding community for the well-being of Members and our associates.
Blue Zones Project is sponsored locally by NCH Healthcare Systems. The Collier County-based hospital introduced the health and longevity initiative to the region several years ago.

Blue Zones was founded by adventurer and author Dan Buettner, an explorer who once circled the globe on his bicycle to earn three Guinness Book of World Records. Blue Zones believes that routine natural movement throughout the day contributes to longevity; that a plant-slant diet leads to a longer, healthier life; that relationships with family, friends, and people of faith lengthen lifespans; and that a strong sense of purpose in life leads to longevity.
The Blue Zones Project designation comes on the heels of The Club at the Dunes being named one of “America’s Healthiest Clubs” by Prevo Health Solutions in October. To qualify as one of America’s Healthiest Clubs, The Club at the Dunes was required to undergo an onsite evaluation, extensive interviews with key department heads, and score an 800 or better on a scale of 1 – 1,000. The Club at the Dunes scored 890 on Prevo Health Solution’s quantitative scoring system, which enables clubs to qualify, regardless of their size, location or amenities.
In 2019, The Dunes of Naples completed a $9.2 million Amenities Center renovation and expansion project. The new coastal-themed Amenities Center includes a new 25,000 square-foot clubhouse. In addition, the wellness and fitness center was also expanded, adding a group exercise room, two rooms dedicated to massages or physical therapy, a new tennis office and pro-shop and a new recreational game room equipped with pool table, ping pong tables and shuffle board. The entire pool area was also renovated and now includes fire pit tables and a lounge area in a new courtyard.
