TROON GOLF-MANAGED FACILITIES RECEIVE HIGH HONORS IN GOLF INC.’S “CLUBHOUSE” AND “DEVELOPMENT OF THE YEAR”

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to recognize Moon Valley Country Club located in Phoenix, Ariz. for winning Golf Inc. magazine’s 2009 “Clubhouse Competition.” Celebrated for its attentive professional staff and first-class amenities, the member-owned club now includes a new award-winning clubhouse.

Based on its design concept, aesthetics and efficiency, Moon Valley Country Club was judged best in the “Remodels and Renovations” category. Golf Inc. noted that the changes captured and renewed the interest of the club’s members. Renovations of the 40-year-old clubhouse were also successful in creating a more flexible interior space with new dining experiences and an overall fresh, clean look.

“The designers have changed a completely outdated clubhouse into a modern, functional hub for member activity,” commented Jim Richerson, general manager and director of golf for the Kohler Co, who served as a judge for the competition.

The renovation also includes a large exterior canopy that serves as a major element of the club, creating a more usable space for outdoor dining, weddings and banquets. Utilities throughout the clubhouse at Moon Valley were renovated as well, which has improved energy and operational efficiency.

“We are extremely proud of our new clubhouse here at Moon Valley,” stated Steve Leonard, the club’s general manager. “A tremendous amount of research and effort was invested into this project to insure that it served the needs of our members and met our standards of quality and efficiency. We believe this renovation has met those expectations. Additionally, the project came in under budget due to the close management by the special projects committee and club management. This is another reason to be very proud of this achievement.”

Another notable finish by a Troon Golf facility in the “Clubhouse Competition” was Yocha Dehe Golf Club in Brooks, Calif. The new clubhouse at Yocha Dehe finished as one of the finalists in the daily-fee category. In the same issue, Golf Inc. named Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club, located in Rio Grande Puerto Rico, as an international course finalist in the “Development of the Year” contest.
