Scottsdale, Ariz. (January 9, 2019) – Troon®, the leader in golf course management, development, and marketing, has been selected to manage Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. Troon Golf, the resort and daily-fee club operations division of Troon, will manage the golf, restaurant and club operations at Longbow Golf Club.
Opened in 1997 and inspired by the image of the medieval archer, Longbow Golf Club was named after the Apache Longbow helicopter, which was manufactured by The Boeing Company across the street from the Longbow Business Park & Golf Club. Longbow Golf Club features an 18-hole golf course, a large practice facility, private and group instruction facilities, a contemporary clubhouse with a spacious outdoor event patio and The Grille at Longbow Golf Club restaurant and bar. A huge supporter of the Arizona golf community, Longbow Golf Club hosts The First Tee of Phoenix programming (since 2010) and multiple junior, collegiate, amateur and professional golf events, plus charity and community outings.
“Troon is universally recognized as the industry leader in club management,” said Bob McNichols, developer of Longbow Business Park and Golf Club. “Troon’s expertise in agronomy, food & beverage, marketing and delivering world-class service will enhance our entire Longbow Golf Club experience. We’re excited about this big change to start the 2019 New Year.”
McNichols purchased Longbow Golf Club in 2001 and commissioned a total course renovation and expansion completed in 2003. Led by original course architect Ken Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh’s second edition of Longbow Golf Club exceeded the length, design and playability of “The Old Course.”
As a Troon-managed club, Longbow Golf Club is now part of the popular Troon Card frequent player program, which means current Troon Cardholders can now enjoy this award-winning East Valley golf course. In addition, the club is now part of Troon Privé’s Troon Advantage program as preferred rates will be offered to Troon Privé-affiliated club members.
“The new Longbow Golf Club quickly turned into an Arizona gem that has played host to numerous competitive events including the AJGA Heather Farr Classic, LPGA Symetra Tour, USGA and professional events, as well as being a favorite course for both visitors and Arizona residents,” said Mike Ryan, chief operating officer, Troon. “We’re excited to be on board and look forward to enhancing and supporting this popular club, its host of fans and frequent players.”
