From the Desk of Rob DeMore: Peak Level

“Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.” — Yogi Berra

According to the National Golf Foundation, golf rounds jumped approximately 15 percent across the USA in 2020. In private clubs, that number is closer to 20 percent. The growth data is remarkable given that at one point, over half of the golf courses in the USA were closed last year during the pandemic (Hawaii was especially impacted by the travel restrictions).

As a result, clubs, and our Troon Privé clubs in particular, are more vibrant than ever. This vibrancy, along with the trailing concerns of COVID tied to guest play are impacting availability at some of our locations. We ask that you be patient and reach out to our teams to help you find golf if and as you travel this year if needed.

The pandemic boosted not only rounds, but also pounds in 2020. According to the New York Times, nearly twice as many people gained rather than lost weight last year. While there may be more of some of us to love, it represents an opportunity to restore physical as well as mental health this year. We expect to see our fitness facilities continue to climb to their peak levels as the vaccine rolls out. Please contact our club leaders in tennis, fitness, swimming, golf, food and beverage, or whatever inspires you to a healthy and happy new year in 2021.

We are here to help you and your families enjoy the better and hopefully unmasked days ahead.

Stay safe,

Rob DeMore, President, Troon Prive
