Orange County Golfer Comes Back to Win Over Packed Field

INDIO, California—Ryan Voois (Ladera Ranch, CA) shot a final round 68 (-3) to outlast a pack of golfers to win the Agave Amateur at Shadow Hills.  Voois, who was in a tie for fourth place coming in to the final round, two-putted his last hole to win by one shot when Robert Keilch (Newport Beach, CA) missed an eight-foot birdie putt and Cooper Humphreys (Canada) made double bogey on 18.  Humphreys was tied for the lead with Voois on the 18th tee when his tee shot found the water.  This is the first major amateur tournament win for Voois, who is headed to play golf at the University of Illinois.  In addition to Humphreys and 36-hole leader Keilch, Voois held off late-charging Caden McMackin (Irvine, CA) who shot a final round 67 to finish in a tie for 3rd, and Brady Siravo (Sacramento)—all three finished two shots back of Voois at -7.

VOOIS ON THE WIN:  “I believe I won because of my tee to green game.  I was never in trouble off the tee and gave myself a good look at birdie nearly every hole.  Coming down the stretch, I was able to hit fairway after fairway and green after green, not giving my opponents any openings.  I’ve been making some changes to my swing to improve my consistency, and to see results so quickly gives me confidence moving forward and belief in what I am doing.  I’m honored to be able to compete against this field against great junior, college, and amateur players and feel really good about how my game can compete with theirs.”
