Team Troon On Tour: Noren T42 at Sony

Team Troon on Tour

PGA TOUR-Sony Open

The PGA TOUR concluded their version of the Aloha Swing on the island of Oahu for the Sony Open at Wai`alae Country Club. It was exciting to have several Team Troon members participating in the event. A special welcome goes to Gary Woodland, returning to the competition after undergoing brain surgery at the end of 2023. He received a truly warm welcome back in both the broadcast and from the players/fans last week. Welcome back, Gary, and we are excited to have you back in action.

Low Team Troon member at the Sony was Alex Noren. He launched up the leaderboard day one and sustained great play all week to secure a T42 finish with a four round total of 272 (-8)

  • T42 Alex Noren: 66-69-67-70 = 272 / -8

While not Team Troon per say, congratulations is in order for Ben Silverman, who often can be seen practicing at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Ben made his 2024 debut to the PGA Tour and played great. Ultimately, finishing T18 and -11. Great playing Ben!

DP World Tour – Dubai Invitational

While the PGA TOUR was in Hawaii, the DP World Tour kicked off play in Dubai. Troon investor/supporter Rory McIlroy would come close to capturing yet another victory in U.A.E with a solid four round total of -18. He would fall one shy of Fleetwood to finish T2, but is poised for yet another great year. Good luck in 2024 Rory!

COMING UP

PGA TOUR –  The American Express

The tour is back on the mainland and today marks the start of the American Express in La Quinta, CA. This event first played in 1960, which makes this event 64 years of being played. Fun Fact: The Troon-managed Classic Club in Palm Desert played host to The American Express from 2005-2008

Matt Kuchar, Alex Noren and Justin Thomas will be competing and this will mark the first event of the season for Matt Kuchar and Justin Thomas!

More Fun Facts: Troon operates seven courses at five great facilities in the “Coachella Valley” that are highlighted on www.TroonCA.com. This includes Indian Wells Golf Resort (which has the Celebrity and Players Course), the Classic Club, Mission Hills North – Gary Player Signature Course, Westin Rancho Mirage and Shadow Hills Golf Club (which boasts the North and South Course).

PGA Champions Tour – Mitsubishi Electric Championship

The PGA Champions Tour is back in full swing this week and they are starting their season off Hualalai Golf Club for the Mitsubishi Electric Championship. This season marks Team Troon Colin Montgomerie’s 37th year competing as a professional and 11th season on the Champions Tour. He has a career of 324/366 cuts made in his career and we can’t wait to see how he does this season! Have a great first event of the season Colin!

Also coming up…exciting events in the Troon International realm

Also in the “Coming Up” realm, congrats in advance to our Troon International team as we are poised for a pulsating start to 2024, hosting four elite tournaments, with three occurring in the next six weeks! The next three events (occurring between now and the end of February) includes back-to-back DP World Tour events at Al Hamra Golf Club, UAE (January 25-28) and Royal Golf Club, Bahrain (February 1-4), before the Asian Tour’s International Series Oman visits the newest Troon facility, Al Mouj Golf (22-25 February)…with more to come!

In the last week of January, the DP World Tour will visit Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, as part of the Middle East double header, where defending champion Daniel Gavins, Alex Fitzpatrick and Rasmus Højgaard will take part. This will be the third edition of the Ras Al Khamiah Championship and has a history of hosting prestigious events, having previously hosted the European Challenge Tour.

A week later, the DP World Tour returns to Bahrain at the Royal Golf Club for the first time in 13 years. Ahead of the Bahrain Championship, the golf course has undergone extensive enhancements over the past months, with a number of the front nine holes restored to their former glory after successful greens redesign and rebuild. Troon International’s elite management has enabled the prestigious club to host high tier events once again and continues to contribute to the golf club’s ongoing success.

One of the most prestigious golf courses in the Middle East, Al Mouj Golf, will host the first event on the International Series calendar at the end of February. Last year’s edition attracted a world class field of 131 players including the major winners, Graeme McDowell, Sergio Garcia, and Brooks Koepka. This outstanding golf facility, designed by the legendary Greg Norman, stands out as the region’s first links-style course, adding a unique and challenging dimension to the golf experience.

We would like to wish all the teams the very best in hosting these Tournaments and look forward to following the events.
