Team Troon On Tour: Sunday Sizzle At RBC Canadian And It’s U.S. Open Week!

PGA TOUR – RBC Canadian Open

First off, congratulations is in order for Troon investor and supporter in Rory McIlroy on his 21st career PGA TOUR victory at the RBC Canadian Open. It was a dramatic finish that included a 62 from Rory and a final pairing on Sunday included both Rory and Team Troon member Justin Thomas (along with Tony Finau). Justin Thomas was low Team Troon member who at one point late in the final round pulled into a tie for the lead. JT would ultimately post a solid 64 and would finish at -15, in 3rd place. Matt Fitzpatrick would also play well at the RBC and would finish T10. Matt and his all Troon bag would receive a solid amount of television time as well.  Congrats Rory on your victory. Congrats Justin Thomas and Matt Fitzpatrick on your solid play this week. Certainly stellar play from all headed into the second major of the year. So much so Rory was heard sharing with JT on the final green: “Lets do this all again next week” (more on “next week” later).

PGA CHAMPIONS TOUR – American Family Insurance Championship

The PGA Champions Tour continued their tour of the Midwest with the “Am Fam” in Madison, Wisconsin. Team Troon member Colin Montgomerie (with his all Troon bag) played well once again to earn a T14 finish at -8. Six shy of the winner in Thongchai Jaidee.

  • T14: Colin Montgomerie: 66-70-72: 208 / -8

ALSO…we were remiss in saying CONGRATS to Colin Montgomerie on his top 10 major finish in the KitchenAid Senior PGA. Colin finished T8 after posting three out of four rounds in the 60’s to finish on page one of the leaderboard of this recent major.

LPGA TOUR Shoprite LPGA Classic Presented By Acer at Seaview

The LPGA Tour was on Troon turf this week at Seaview for the Shoprite LPGA Classic Presented By Acer. New Team Troon member in Yealimi Noh was in the field and would open with a 72. However a 74 second round would have her missing weekend play by four shots. Nonetheless, thank you Yealimi for teeing it up at Seaview this week…congrats to the winner in Brooke Henderson… and congrats to the entire Seaview Team

Coming Up…

ITS U.S. OPEN WEEK!

The second major of the year is coming up on the PGA TOUR in the U.S. Open at The Country Club at Brookline in Brookline MA. The Country Club at Brookline has a storied history having played host to three U.S. Opens, six U.S. Amateurs and a pretty dramatic Ryder Cup. Callaway staffer in Jon Rahm is the defending champion and Team Troon will be well represented with four Team Troon members in the field: Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Gary Woodland and Alex Noren. All are playing quite well so look for some fireworks this week from Team Troon. To that end current odds for Team Troon members to win the U.S. Open from PointsBet are as follows:

The PGA TOUR Champions have a short break with the next event being a major in the US Senior Open Championship (June 23-26). Look for Colin Montgomerie to continue his stellar major performance that week.
