Team Troon on Tour: Vegas Baby! Team Troon at CJ Cup and Rio Secco Golf Club Shines in Las Vegas

Vegas Baby! The PGA TOUR moved to the City of Entertainment and Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospital for Children Open. Two Team Troon members played well and finished strong with Patrick Cantlay finishing in the top 10 and Matt Kuchar finishing in the Top 40:

  • T8 Patrick Cantlay, -18
  • T34 Matt Kuchar, -13

European Tour

Matthew Fitzpatrick competed in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club, Virginia Water, Surrey, England. Fitz had a great showing which included a remarkable 65 in the second round. Tied for the lowest round of the week of any of the players who finished in the top 10:

  • 7 Matthew Fitzpatrick, -11

PGA Champions Tour

Colin Montgomerie and his all Troon bag were at that top of the leaderboard for the PGA Champions Tour SAS Championship in Cary, North Carolina. Colin was in the hunt but would ultimately finish just two shots shy of eventual winner in Woody Austin.

  • T4 Colin Montgomerie, -4

Coming Up

The tour stays in Las Vegas for the CJ Cup (which was moved from the Far East to Las Vegas due to pandemic related issues). The defending champ is Team Troon’s Justin Thomas and everyone from Team Troon is playing/competing in the relocated event. Team Troon players in the field at CJ Cup include:

  • Justin Thomas- Defending Champion
  • Matt Kuchar
  • Gary Woodland
  • Patrick Cantlay
  • Matt Fitzpatrick
  • Alex Noren

Also happening in Las Vegas is a really cool activation event we are executing with the Team Troon players that are in town. Members of Team Troon joined us at Rio Secco Golf Club to hit (what we believe is the first of its kind)…a 145 yard shot from a floating tee in the middle of the lake on the par three 16th hole at Rio Secco. If a player makes a Hole In One, they will earn $1M HIO prize (with half going to their charity of their selection). In addition a $10,000 charitable donation is on the line for the player who wins the Closest To The Pin. Each player selected local charities to shoot for (ie local charities that have been impacted with COVID related challenges).

Above is a shot of Justin Thomas hitting from the floating tee on Monday.

Follow @Troon or @RioSeccoGolfClub social channels for the action….and be sure to share, retweet, etc. Media friends of Troon are covering the event, including Breaking Par TV that will share highlights on their next episode. More to come on that…until then follow the action via the social channels above.

Shareable

Of course the aforementioned Las Vegas Team Troon shot at Rio Secco Golf Club is definitely shareable, but in addition to that…

Cheyenne Woods played and practiced at the Troon-managed Maderas Golf Club in San Diego. She posted and shared a cool insta story saying thanks and plugging the club to her 150K Followers.

Cheyenne also retweeted our Troon Women’s Golf Month tweet promoting Women’s Golf Month and helping amplify your messages to grow the game with female golfers

Have a great week and go #TeamTroon
