Team Troon On Tour: Woodland and Fitzpatrick with T10 Finishes… and it’s Players Week!

PGA TOUR – Arnold Palmer Invitational

The second stop on the PGA TOUR Florida swing proved to be the second week in a row where Gary Woodland finished T5. Coming off of his T5 last week at the Honda, Gary overcame a challenging course and finished T5 once again. If not for a rough final two holes Gary might have claimed a victory this week. Nonetheless, he finished just two shots shy of eventual winner Scottie Scheffler. Matt Fitzpatrick was the other Team Troon player in the field and also had put together a solid week with a Top 10 finish and four round total of -1. Matt has historically played well at Bay Hill…his last four finishes are evidence of that. He has finished T9, T10,T5 and 2nd the past four years. Solid playing Gary and Matt!

  • T5 Gary Woodland: 70-72-70-73 = 285 / -3
  • T9 Matt Fitzpatrick: 73-71-70-73 = 287 / -1         

 PGA Champions Tour – Hoag Classic

The PGA Champions Tour stop in Newport Beach, California had Colin Montgomerie and his all Troon bag in the field for the Hoag Classic. Colin would open with a 69 and put together a three round total of 215 to finish T46:

  • T46 Colin Montgomerie: 69-71-75 = 215  / +2

PGA TOUR – The Players

Often referred to as the “5th Major”, Players week is a big one for the PGA TOUR. Last year, Team Troon’s Justin Thomas had a near perfect final round 68 to rally from a three shot deficit and take home his 14th PGA TOUR victory with an ironic four round total of 14 under par. That was a great week for JT. But it didn’t exactly start that way. He narrowly made the cut. But bounced back with rounds of 64-68 over the weekend to take home the title and the $2.7 million winners share of the $15 million purse.

This year The Players has an even bigger purse (it was moved up to $20 million with $3.6 million going to the winner) and an bigger contingent of Team Troon players in the field.  All six PGA TOUR players on Team Troon are in the field at The Players: Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Gary Woodland, Alex Noren, Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar.
